This is how I see it... In the guy world, there are 2 very different ways to work with lumber... You can whittle away little bits and make fabulous works all by hand, or you can use power tools... Same over here with us girls, and I won't be caught dead with a crochet hook! Give me a power tool any day! And while I'm pretty sure my Singer won't cut your arm off like a power saw, it can still do some crazy damage to a finger or two if you aren't paying attention! (I've never sewn my finger, for the record... came close once, when I was stitching some leather I think, or a really thick fabric... in any case, I had the presser foot off and the needle managed to come down right on top of my fingernail, but I was going slowly enough it just barely pressed down on the nail, no puncture or anything =P ) Usually I'm quite the petal to the metal girl on that presser foot, especially when I'm making something as mundane as curtains like I was this week!

They only took me an hour or so, and although I left some raw edges, I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out! It amazes me how many people (boys included haha!) have no idea how simple it is to sew things like this on a machine for your home... And you can buy a decent sewing machine for under $100, and then you aren't tied down to only home decor designs you can find in a store... Now yes, garment making is a bit more tricky, but when it comes to simple things like curtains and hemming (as in making pants/shirts the correct length) machine sewing is so easy, it's a shame it's gotten such a bad rap as being so girly hehe
Cheers!! I ought to learn how to sew XD I look forward to seeing how the car looks!
