365 Extras: The Tortoise and the Hair(y Dog)

(And yes I know the turtle is a Turtle not a Tortoise, but Tortoise makes the title sound so much cooler hehe!)

My muscle man and I decided to take advantage of the warm weather this weekend and spend some time outside! We washed both our cars, and I finally got around to cleaning out mine, which has been collecting junk for the past 4 or 5 months and was filthy =P I spent a good hour or so cleaning out stuff ranging from trash to clothes to beach gear to dishes... It was so refreshing to have a clean car again, all it's lacking now is a good vacuuming =) We also decided to let the turtle out for a little fresh air, he gets all pent up in his aquarium, and even though I've got him a little floating pier for sunbathing, he still pouts and splashes around begging us to let him out! With the weather getting nicer, I thought it would be fun to let him walk around a bit outside, it was quite fun...

He was a little timid at first, I think he was worried he was going to get left outside, lol! I backed up a little bit to give him some space to roam and then he started following me like a little puppy, it was cute! These first two shots were totally from the hip, proof that doing self portraits is incredibly helpful at learning how your camera works and how to improve your photos =) I totally recommend self portraits to every photographer for that reason, if nothing else you can shoot from the hip like nobody's business!
The dog and the turtle have lived together for quite a while, but when the turtle roams around the house the dog usually gets put in another room, but outside we let them play to see what would happen (we were watching closely, but the dog is normally such a scaredy cat we weren't really worried)

Yup...Total scaredy cat =P He was just curious and kept sniffing the turtle, and watching him as he kept walking away from the dog. But it was still fun to watch them interact hehe!
