House Work: Little Projects

Now that we have the hardwood floors in to our new house, things are coming together very quickly, and we finally feel like it's a real house... This weekend we finally got the last few major furniture pieces we needed (dining room table, I feel like such an adult!!) and we couldn't be happier! We've been so blessed to have acquired so much from so many places, so far we've only had to buy a sofa (on going-out-of-business-liquidation sale!) and a nightstand ($35 from the thrift store plus new knobs and paint)... Everything else we already owned (I had furnishings for a one bedroom apartment, quite a far cry from our new 4 bedroom!), was gifted to us, or was inherited from relatives =D We are incredibly thankful for all our furniture, it really matches what we would want if we had bought it, and it fits into our space perfectly! I'm really going to have to do a photo-tour of everything, but right now we're focused on getting the small details done and everything moved into its proper place.

I told my muscle man that once the hardwoods went in, everything else was going to fall into place, and that's exactly how it's worked! We've moved furniture where it's supposed to be, which means rooms can start turning into what they're supposed to be, and we can finally get out of chaos mode!

Just a little sneak peak of some of the things we've been up to, since I don't have much time to post out full explanations of everything (so many little things to do to get everything in place, and we realllyy want to have a housewarming before the holiday season starts so all our family and friends can come see our progress!) but here's some little sneaks of the fabulous little projects that we needed to do to get our house all homey looking!

On the "getting to use rooms as they are intended" vein, the pink room is slowly turning into my photography studio!! 2 of the walls are covered with backgrounds, which I'm hoping will eliminate any pink color casts that are going on in there now, but I was so excited when my seamless white went up that I grabbed a shot of it before I put up the black curtains on the other wall =)

Wall art!! =D I snapped a few quick reference shots for my own benefit, but since I don't have a finished photo of what they look like on the wall yet, here's what I originally laid the photos out to look like... But then they started going up and some small changes were made, I wanted to be able to expand it some so I made it less "boxy"

Our bedroom is looking amazing now, our little thrift store nightstand looks amazing now, and definitely fit the budget at under $50 including supplies, and most importantly, now we each have a nightstand, and a place to put our new matching lamps! I also put up wall-to-wall curtains, I had these great sheers I bought for the wedding, and I'm using those between the windows. For now I have the blue curtains covering the windows, but another of those little projects I've got on the to-do list is to buy fabric for new window coverings to better match the decor in the bedroom...

So yes, still lots to do, and of course October is a busy month for us (lots of 501st/Rebel Legion events, plus we're taking a super fun vacation!!) but I think we can get most of the important small projects taken care of soon so that we can finally have a fabulous and gorgeous home!!
