Marriage Monday: DIYing the Details

I've lately been staying busy trying to keep on top of the finding a job task, and since I've been hitting that hard I'm also trying to get all the things I'm making for the wedding made and done! Some projects are stalled since I don't have things I need to finish them ( a rubber monogram stamp, a few travel suitcases, manila tags... those are the top one I've got on the 'to buy' list...) Until then though, I have gotten a few things checked off the DIY decor list!

I'm quite pleased with this one, it's going to look fabulous above the entrance to the retreat =) It's weighted down at the bottom so it won't flap into the wind, and there's reinforcements in the top as well to keep them from sagging or bunching together when it's hanging so it doesn't have to be super tight.

Next up is not really working for me, I think I'm going to scrap this idea and go with something else. I was going to use these little fluff balls as aisle markers during the ceremony, but since the tulle I'm using makes them look stiff and prickly instead of soft, I think I'll just use something else. I could do the same thing with a different fabric, but they use a lot more little circles of fabric than I thought they would... Still, they look kinda cute so I'll probably still put them somewhere.

With these things not working out, that leaves me with nothing for the ceremony pews, and since it's a dark space, I would really like to have something bright to lighten up the pathway. Here's what we have to work with:

First I definitely want an aisle runner for the floor, but luckily I saw a couple in storage at our venue that we can borrow! I'd really love to do some mason jars with flowers hanging from each (or maybe every other) pew, but that requires both the added costs of fresh flowers and extra time to do that the day of instead of the night before.
But I did have some fun success with painting coffee filter flowers I made for our engagement photoshoot (you can see them in the background here -->) I made these last minute the day before the shoot, so with 3 months to go to the wedding I could certainly do a better job =P But they don't look so great in plain white, I'd have to paint them a soft purple (to go with the color theme) or make them into something less flowery looking, maybe something like a little paper wreath... But wreaths just scream 'christmas' to me...

I just know I hate bows as pew decorations... If I don't come up with anything else, bows will have to do, because I do want a little something decorating the walkway, but bows just aren't my thing... And the internet is being quite unhelpful on this issue... I have somewhere near 350 "oo I like this" wedding images saved on my computer, and a whopping 8 of them are of ceremony aisle decorations...And of those 3 are flowers in mason jars, and 2 are floral or fabric balls like the ones I made that are sad and fail... So then there's the wreath I posted above, and 2 more =P of 350 wedding inspirations pictures... But I'm sure I'll figure it out! =D We have less than 100 days to go, yay!
