Geeky Wednesday: Master [Bedroom] Geek

I've finally started getting everything sorted out from our move, it's been rather slow going since we moved into a house that was, for all practical purposes, fully furnished! (we moved out the beds from the two side bedrooms we're using, and the kitchen only had maybe half the dishes needed for dining) So with my furniture, kitchen, and general 'stuff' added to the already quite livable space, we've been a little cramped. And I didn't want to move stuff around without the muscle man knowing about it, because it's all his stuff, and I'm so not going to be that woman who moves everything of her man's just to suit her organizational needs! =P But I finally got to a point today where I felt like it was time to decorate! There's still a bit of clutter in our bedroom (the newly named master bedroom, lol, we aren't using the actual 'master' in the house) but it's mostly tidy and organized so we both know where stuff is, and I've got all this amazing art and nothing is put up on the walls, it's been driving me nuts! But I had a plan to remedy that... I made a swinging bachelor pad! First I'll show you the pics, from before to after, obviously...

I decided that the "country cottage" quilt just wasn't working with the awesome poster collage, so I swapped it out for something more appropriate hehe!
The dog was so not in a photographic mood, lol he was playing camera shy! First he blinks, then when I was trying to get a shot of me in the fabulous new I called him up to get in the shot and he starts pawing over his eyes, he so knew what was up!

I'm really liking the collage wall, I've wanted to do one of these forever but never really had the right space or the balls to do it, but now I have a fabulous excuse, I've got a man, and this just screams manliness =P And it's not like I'm going to have the chance to do something fun like this again (for my own bedroom at least) because our next house is going to be our big boy and girl proper house, no crazy poster walls there! And the muscle man never lived away while he was at college, so this is my little gift to him to have that totally decked out dorm room before he has to grow up and have proper art hanging on the walls!

As for the technical aspects: I didn't poke a thousand holes into the walls, most of the posters are hung with poster putty. However, because a lot of these are 2-sided movie posters, they are printed on super glossy paper and don't adhere well with the putty as regular paper posters would, so I put thumbtacks at strategic places once all the posters were in place to minimize damage to the walls. Although this meant putting a few holes directly through the posters, I figured that was ok as I had chosen to put my favorite posters on the 'top' layer, and I figure displaying these posters is going to give me a lot more value than the $10-$15 I could get trying to sell them if I ever wanted to...
