haha....haha... "plan"... funny how that word works...
We did start the day Saturday as intended by clearing up the back yard, though we didn't get all the limbs up, we did manage to haul all the large tree pieces into a fun little 'border' (I use this term loosely, the logs are 2-3 feet apart, so that's hardly a border... still, it looks like a single, purposely laid unit from far away, so whatever) marking where our 'backyard' ends and the 'woods' begin... We have a little natural woodsy section at the end of the yard, and want to keep that grown up, but don't want our whole yard to look unkept, so this was a cheap and easy solution =) (photos once we get the rest of the limbs up, and the grass cut haha!!)
Then we headed over to the old house, planning to get just a small load of things plus the washing machine and dryer in the truck, then come back for my car and fill it with things the next day. But to make a long story short, the family that's going to be moving into the old place is moving in much sooner than we thought (it's my mother-in-law's, and it works out that another member of the extended family needs a place now that we've moved out, yay!) I'm really glad that the house isn't going to be sitting vacant, but still, I thought I'd have more time to get my stuff out! And I still had a lot of stuff over there! Plus it had been left a mess, because I knew I had to move stuff out and around still, so I figured why dust/vacuum/pick up when I was just going to be making more of a mess getting things out and moved to the new house... Well they had already started cleaning up my messes, which was just totally embarrassing and annoying (why didn't you let me know before you just went nuts cleaning everything?!) So we quickly realized that to avoid any more faux-pas we would need to get everything out of the house and cleaned as quickly as possible... So there went our Sunday 'plans'...
And if that weren't enough of a workout for the weekend (luckily everything fit in one more load on the truck-after the washing machine/dryer trip-and one car load), we get up Monday morning and start to set up the dryer only to realize we don't have an exhaust duct because all the other places I've lived have either already had them, or had exhaust vents at the same level as the port on the back of the dryer... So off we go to lowes... and 3 more trips back and forth to lowes, 4 hours, and one whopping bang on the head due to my own stupidity, I have a working dryer!! Seriously, it's been the hardest thing we've had to do yet on the house, and all because we were too cheap to buy new hardware for the wall and back of the dryer(that was trip number 2, to buy a sturdier and hopefully easier to attach duct-it wasn't much easier, sadly-), And then because I forgot, and my hubby's never moved, so he didn't know, we didn't check to see if the outlet was the same as our plug..It wasn't... obviously... that was trip number 3 to lowes, made by the muscle man, and he picked up the wrong cord... So I grudgingly made trip number 4 to get the right plug, because I had a lot of laundry to do!!
I'd like to point out further that this photo was taken
AFTER I had the first full load of clothes in the washer,
and there was another load that's not pictured here!
We had gone quite a while without doing laundry haha
Obviously, our laundry room is still seriously lacking in the style
department, but hey, at least it works, and it's not a half hour drive
away anymore!! I'm just so glad that we had a 3 day weekend to get everything done, we both would have been in tears had it been a regular two day weekend packed with all those errands to have to get done! (As it was only one of us was in tears, I'm telling you, I knocked the hell out of the side of my head/ear!! I stood up too quickly from behind the dryer and had turned my head to avoid the wire rack along the wall, but clearly hadn't moved far enough away from it and crushed my ear between the wire lip and my skull, thankfully the edge is round so no cuts, just a really sore ear!) My muscle man was really absolutely wonderful this weekend, despite both of us being so aggravated with the situation he just let me vent to him and didn't get mad when I took my frustrations out on him...I tried to apologize as I went, but women are very touchy animals haha, so I'm sure I said some mean things without knowing it! He even threatened to drop kick the dryer and smash it into pieces after it hurt my ear lol!! =D
